What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractors is a health care profession that mainly work with treatment and prevention of disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on general health. It is an art that was first established by D.D. Palmer back in the late 1890’s. Today there are chiropractors practicing in over 100 countries in all world regions. We all practice a little bit differently from one another, but despite the differences in techniques our main goal is the same, which is to help people attain optimal health so they can fully enjoy their life.
So what does a chiropractor do?
A doctor of chiropractic is a primary healthcare provider (meaning he or she can treat the public without referral) who specializes primary in injuries and pain syndromes of the spine like lower back pain and neck pain and shoulder pain, but also treat conditions with elbow, hands, hips, knees, feet, etc. Many chiropractors believe that the human body is “intelligent” and has an innate ability to heal itself from most conditions if we allow it by taking care of it. Many doctors of chiropractic believe in assisting the body’s natural healing mechanisms in various ways and often recommend natural forms of medication, such as vitamins, minerals, and/or herbs.
